Lake Chiemsee - The "Bavarian Sea" / Lago Chiemsee - il "mare di Baviera"

Lake Chiemsee, straight near the highway A8 between Munich and Salzburg, is the biggest lake of Bavaria. That's why it is also called the "Bavarian Sea". There are two islands in the lake: island "Fraueninsel" and island "Herreninsel".

On the "Herreninsel" there is the castle "Herrenchiemsee" of the former Bavarian King "Ludwig the II.", which was built as similiar as the castle of Versailles. After World War II. the Allies founded the German Constitution in 1945 in castle Herrenchiemsee.
